ESCC
BOARD MEMBERS
MEET THE TEAM.

President
Kristen Apodaca
Kristen Apodaca is a founding member of ESCC (formerly CCESC). She was introduced into the conformation ring at the tender age of 3 (and lore has it, she promptly fell on her face, literally!). She is pictured here with her son, River, who you will see elsewhere on this site as he has already started in Pee Wee classes. Kristen breeds English Setters along with her mom (Dr. B.J. Parsons, pictured also) under BJ Setters and Festivity Setters. She is a registered veterinary technician with a BS in Business Management. Kristen is passionate about English Setters as evident by her long association with the breed and her other volunteer activities including, ESAA SE Regional VP, ESCC USA Director and ESAA Juniors Coordinator. In addition to breeding, she also semi-professionally handles English Setters and several other breeds in the conformation ring, and has taught grooming and handling classes. Kristen has successfully shown more dogs than can be counted to their championships and grand championships, both here and in Canada. She is proficient in handling her setters in the field as well. Kristen is best known for her generous spirit in being willing to help others.

Vice President
B.J. Parsons, DVM
B.J. is a founding member of ESCC (formerly CCESC) and is proud of how the tradition of owning, breeding, handling, judging and hunting English Setters has become multi-generational in her family. Her kennel, BJ Setters has produced a formidable list of titled dogs, and the list continues to grow in her co-breeding with Festivity Setters. From the archives, Feathers and Flews, February 4, 2010 edition, she was highlighted as the 2009 Member of the Year, providing an impressive bio which continues today - “B.J. began her love affair with English Setters in 1978. Her credentials are imposing and enviable. At that time, she had shown almost 100 dogs to their AKC titles.” That number has grown exponentially over the years, both here and in Canada. B.J. has held multiple board positions for our club since its inception. In addition to her current service on our board, she is also an AKC Delegate for the ESAA and a judge in hunt tests, field trials, and conformation to include about half of the sporting group.

Secretary
Rob McBride
Rob's first introduction to English Setters came when he was two years old. His Father, an Army officer returned from a two year deployment to Korea to meet Rob for the first time and become reacquainted with Rob's older sister. Needless to say, it was overwhelming. To help the family adjust, the COL brought home a six month old, tri-male - "Andy" who lived until Rob was 16. That started his lifelong love of the breed. Rob has owned many setters over the years. He currently resides at Lake James, NC with his wife and their four setters. In lobbying for a fifth, Rob received the wife veto, so decided to get an English Setter tattoo, which he is very proud of. Rob brings many management and organizational skills to the ESCC board, following a long career in the oil industry and subsequent stint as President/CEO of an international trade organization.

Treasurer
Linda Wozniak
Linda is another volunteer extraordinaire and a long standing member / board member of ESCC (formerly CCESC). She is a graduate of Kean University, an American Red Cross Instructor for 34+ years and a former President / Owner of Brookside Kennels, Inc. in New Jersey. Linda has owned and handled English Setters in conformation, companion and performance activities for over 30 years. She currently lives with two English Setters. Linda is also quite active as a conformation judge. She is a board member of the Durham Kennel Club, where she also serves as an AKC delegate.

Member at large
Cheryl Pfeiffer
Cheryl has been training and showing dogs since she was 11 years old. Her life with dogs started out with Great Danes, then Shelties and a Golden Retriever. Cheryl says she and her husband Jim have now landed on Newfoundlands and English Setters. While she is passionate about breed standards and supporting them through the show ring, her true love is working with the dogs in the areas they were bred to do. She and her pups have earned multiple titles in obedience, rally, water tests, therapy work, and drafting. Being somewhat new to English Setters, only since March of 2020, she and Jim cannot wait to dive into hunt tests and field trial work. Cheryl has served on many non-profit boards and is the former president of the Southeastern Newfoundland Club. She and Jim live in Davidson, NC with their two dogs Clementine (Newfoundland) and Monty (English Setter).
