What's in a name? What's in a logo?

Due to our club expansion, from Central Carolina English Setter Club to English Setter Club of the Carolinas (formalized by AKC and announced at our October 8, 2025 club meeting), we were in need of a new logo and online domain name for our growing club. Our current roster includes members from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, with the bulk residing in NC and SC (41). As our club continues to grow, we may need to petition AKC to further expand our geographic territory. That will mean transitioning again to another club name and logo. Consideration was given to these factors in the development of our new logo and the domain name change from ccesc.net to englishsetterclub.org.

Domain Name - ESCC initials are used by a club in Canada, so we could not use that in our new link. The new domain name is generic enough that regardless of where our territory might expand, we will not have to transition our online link.

Logo - The design process, approved by the Board, was spearheaded by Cheryl and Jim Pfeiffer. They solicited input from members Rob McBride (current Club Secretary) and Patty McBride (current Club Webmaster), then graciously hired a graphic artist to develop the donated, finished product above. Should our club further expand territory and rename/ rebrand - updates to this logo will consist only of changing text - "of the Carolinas." This minimal change requirement will be a cost savings to the club and we can retain the beautiful images of our setters.

The Setters - it would have been easy to find generic setters for our logo, but thought and intent were given to using our own setters in honor of the club's firm commitment to the breed, history and accomplishments.

Our "Field" Setter is "TWISTER" - RBIS MBISS GCHS DC Festivity BJ's Tornado Warning RA SH CGC TKN VES4 - proudly bred, owned and handled by one of our founding members, Dr. B.J. Parsons, DVM, our club's current Vice President and English Setter Association of America (ESAA) Committee Chair - AKC Delegate.
