FIRST UP . . .
Please contact Patty McBride, Webmaster at briarpatch.englishsetters@gmail.com if you have questions about navigating the renewal process or new membership sign up online.
This month we have a special item to share . . .
ESCC's Vice President and resident Veterinarian, Dr. B.J. Parsons has offered to provide attendees to our April 18, 2026 Field Day and our July 8-12, 2026 Regional Specialty Events the opportunity to contribute to the OFA DNA Repository. The cost is minimal ($20) and the benefits are far reaching as detailed above. This is an altruistic, voluntary action. Click on the picture above to learn more . . .
Next up is a Profile on AGILITY . . .

Click on the photo above to read about Kenya and Sue's foray into the agility world!
(Bred by Kristen Apodaca and BJ Parsons DVM - GCHG CH Weymouths En Fuego x CH Festivity BJ's Frozen Margarita JH)
As part one of our ongoing objectives (to do all in our power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials, hunt tests, and field trials), a link to this profile has also been added to our site's webpage on companion activities.

I love the variety of activities being pursued by our setters and their humans. BIG Smiles tell their stories as well . . . Enjoy!

14 & 21 Feb 2026 - From Cheryl Pfeiffer - Need one more!! . . . He has a JH now after his name!! AND THEN . . . when I saw BJ Parsons with TJ in the second photo, I learned he also earned his JH on the 21st!
From Conformation to the FIELD . . . WAY TO GO!!!!

6,7,8 Feb - This goofball hasn't been in the ring since July. . . Although this has been a challenging journey, I love the bond we have formed. And thank you to all that help along the way! I would have given up a long time ago without you!!
Oof, dog shows are exhausting! Tatum enjoying some beauty rest before moving to her throne to watch Olympic ice skating!
It was a great weekend for Team Tatum! 3 Winners Bitch placements for 3 points! There's a purple ribbon in there. Must make note not to do casual pictures near a pond with birds!

23 Feb - Tatum and I headed to McKinney, TX this weekend with 5 objectives:
1. Volunteer at the Bluebonnet ES Club fun match
2. Meet Sue's new puppy, Baylor
3. Meet as many strangers as possible
4. Try some on-lead agility (forgot to get pictures)
5. Love on all the setters (Kenya, Ryker, and especially Maddox)
Additionally, Marcy has shared with me she has also begun working with Tatum in Obedience. This is one versatile team!!!!

A huge shout out to the National Capital English Setter Club & Maryland Sporting Dog Club for putting on awesome SPECIALTIES! Thank you to the National Capital Club for the hospitality, great trophies (the trophies were beautiful) . . . I could not have asked for more from my puppy owners; a great puppy reunion! Congrats to all the winners! Lastly, I could not have asked for a better partner to do all this with, who does it all, my husband David Otlewski!
